At Leanna’s Learning Tree Preschool and Childcare, I value the diverse backgrounds of each family and child in my care. I value the strong, respectful relationships I have with each family and child. I value working with parents/guardians to guide their child’s overall care and learning. I value teaching children appropriate behavior and using strategies that allow children to take responsibility for his/her actions. I focus on teaching children how to interact socially and value consistent expectations to guide children’s learning. I value and take pride in working with families to teach children to respect others, respect the environment and to respect themselves. I value the partnerships that I develop with each family.
At Leanna’s Learning Tree Preschool and Childcare, I believe that a preschool teacher lays out the foundation that you children with need in life and believe that this foundation should complement the work that the family is building. I believe that children learn best in a welcoming, warm, and stress-free environment. I believe that when a child is excited to explore, learn or just be present, they are more receptive to the curriculum that they are being taught and the hours they spend with a caregiver. I believe that each day for a child is an adventure and that they should be able to freely explore their surroundings. I believe that children can learn just as much through their play as they do through books and lessons. I believe that each child has their own learning style and that they may not all learn the same way. I believe in the celebration of diversity and the use and display of non-biased gender roles. I believe that the parents know what is best for their child and strive to incorporate that information when I am developing my curriculum. I believe that the families play an important role in my daycare and value any feedback or information that they give to me.
At Leanna’s Learning Tree Preschool and Childcare, there are several goals that I strive to maintain. That I work together with the families to help prepare the children and get them ready for kindergarten. That I strive to offer a place to learn, to play and have fun while in care, while maintain a 6 to 1 ratio for kindergarten and younger. I use the Learning Box Preschool Curriculum to provide fun, engaging, developmentally appropriate activities to scaffold each child’s individual development and learning. I strive to maintain a child-led environment. I strive to work together with parents to create a behavioral management strategy to help with any behavioral issues that may arise. I strive for transparency by communication with the parents through different medias as well as information on preschool activities for the day. I look at what the parents are teaching their child and try to align myself and the care to coincide as a partner.
