My name is Leanna and this is my story.
I became a medical assistant in 2003 and worked in the medical field until 2014. Though I loved working in the medical field, I decided to turn to another area that I love. I have always loved working with children and they have always felt at ease with me.
My first opportunity to work with children was when I was younger, through my church. After that experience, I knew that I was meant to work with children.
Shortly after I left home, I had a job at a Kindercare, as an assistant teacher with the toddlers. I eventually transferred to a location in Hillsboro and became the teacher for the younger preschool class. When I started, there were just enough children, that a second teacher was not needed. Towards the end of my stay there, we had enough children to need a teacher aide. At a Kindercare conference/Retreat, I was given the award for the best curriculum, in my region. Unfortunetly, due to rising cost of living, I made the hard decision of leaving the preschool, to find higher paying work. Ever since that experience I couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if I stayed.
In 2002, I decided to go back to school and became a Certified Medical Assistant. I had done for 11 years, and again wondered if there could have been more. In 2014, I decided to bow out of the medical field for a while and turn my focus on working with children again. And that was when, Leanna's Learning Tree Preschool and Childcare was born.
